Pole Attachments


As carriers are now moving aggressively toward millimeter wave (mmW) 5G technologies, ConcealFab is pivoting its product development and resourcing strategy in parallel. The shift to mmW 5G requires not only ConcealFab’s existing competencies in mechanical, thermal, and aesthetic design, but also a significant upgrade in its RF prowess as mmW spectrum is considerably more sensitive to concealment materials which can cause significant pattern distortion if not properly designed.

In support of this shift to mmW, ConcealFab has constructed a commercial-grade anechoic chamber complete with mmW phased array antennas. As a result, ConcealFab can now do full pattern testing of its mmW concealment materials to validate any impact on RF performance from the materials.

To date, ConcealFab has received approval for certain mmW concealment materials, performing at both 28 GHz and 39 GHz, and has begun shipment of several products utilizing this material. Similar to ConcealFab’s shift toward 5G, ConcealFab’s 4G portfolio has also been shifting in conjunction with the Operators’ evolving needs. With the addition of unlicensed spectrums (CBRS and LAA) being added to networks, ConcealFab’s traditional 4G products have been upgraded to enable placement of the radios closer to the antennas, minimizing the impact of RF cable losses.

ConcealFab’s traditional pole top and side arm antenna mounts have been modified to become dual purpose products, mounting and concealing both the antenna and these radios into efficiently packaged, aesthetic solutions. Consistent with the rest of ConcealFab’s portfolio, these solutions have all been mechanically analyzed, thermally certified and RF tested, when appropriate.

The biggest differentiator for ConcealFab’s product line with respect to the antenna / radio combo products is the added layer of optimized sizing. In order for these products to have the highest likelihood of being zoned and permitted, the products should fall within the FCC’s maximum allowable volumetric envelop for Federal Exemption. ConcealFab is well aware of these size restrictions and always designs their products with these guidelines in mind to support our customer’s ability to receive zoning and permitting approval as early as possible.
